Whether you are married or single, you know people who are in a relationship. If you are married, you know the struggles one can have. If you are single, I am sure you are observing couples struggling. Let’s be honest, marriage on a good day is hard enough. When you throw in the pressures of this past year, even the best marriages have been impacted. Unfortunately, things are not getting much better.

This past summer, some of the leadership at Grace  began discussing what we could do to help the relationships within our church. Grace’s purpose is to make mature followers of Jesus Christ but people have a hard time maturing when their relationships are falling apart. With this in mind, we are going to offer a 14-week marriage study during the Sunday school hour beginning September 20 at 11:15 am. We will be watching the Love & Respect video series which is fun and challenging, and helpful for everyone; whether they are married or single.

Because we believe the materials offered in this class are important, we will be combining all adult classes, except the Sr. Adults, to participate in this class together. There is a suggested donation of $7 per person to cover the cost of materials but please come even if you can’t afford the cost. We will make sure your book costs are covered.

There will be three major questions asked and answered in the 6+ hours of content:

Why do we negatively react to each other in marriage? This will be explained in what is called the Crazy Cycle.

How do I best motivate my spouse? The Energizing Cycle answers this question.

What if my spouse does not respond to me? The Rewarded Cycle informs us what to do.

Excited, yet burdened, about male and female relationships, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs and his wife Sarah launched the Love & Respect Conferences in 1999. Based on over three decades of counseling, as well as scientific and biblical research, this conference has given hope and new life to thousands of marriages the last 17 years.

I have taught this study twice and enjoyed it immensely and hope you will join us in the sanctuary each Sunday morning at 11:15 am as we learn how to manage the struggles of marriage. If you have any questions, please let me know.                     – Pastor Daniel
