SUMMARY:Biker Sunday
DESCRIPTION:Our annual Biker’s Sunday is scheduled for July 12\, GCA Days weekend!  Our guest speaker is Kurt Sandquist\, retired Men’s Pastor from Lincoln Berean Church.  Kurt has a passion for stimulating spiritual growth in men and the incarcerated.  He is also an avid motorcyclist and is excited to bring his bike and ride with all the bikers after service.  The ride afterward is for all who wish to participate (all vehicles are welcome to join us for the ride after the meal\, not just 2-wheeled ones).  We have been working with local bikers both inside and outside our church to promote this event\, and we need your help!  The church is providing smoked pulled pork\, but we are asking you to provide sides plus a dessert for this meal.  The bikers are our guests for the day\, and we want to pull out the red carpet for them.  Please help us make this a special Sunday for the bikers\, some of whom have told us this is the only Sunday they ever go to church. \nNote: We will not have Sunday School this Sunday\, we will move right into the meal after service\, followed by a 100-mile (approximately) motorcycle ride at 12:30. \nFor ride details\, call Heather at 308.940.3000. \nFor service details\, call the church office at 308.754.4770. \n \n

SUMMARY:Pastor's letter to Grace Church
DESCRIPTION:Dear Church Family\, \nMy tomatoes are dying. Most of them anyway. Herbicide drift is what A.I. tells me the problem is. I’ve pruned the five plants that have been most affected\, and now it’s just a waiting game to see if they come out of it. Sadly\, an unseen force has destroyed something that was once vibrant\, all because of a little drift. Kinda reminds you of something\, doesn’t it? \nOver this past summer\, I heard of three ministers in my circle of friends\, two current and one retired\, who lost their ministries and/or families due to drift; a slow drift into a life of chosen sin. One small decision led to another decision\, and to another\, until there was no covering it anymore. One of the ministers I talked to told me how easy it was to drift into this pattern\, and how ashamed he was at how far he had fallen before he was found out. He never thought he’d go there\, and once he did go there\, he never thought he’d be found out. Like my tomato plants\, he is no longer vibrant. His ministry is gone. He’s lost the respect of his family. He’s lost fellowship with his wife. All because of drift. \nThis can happen to anyone. Don’t think it can’t happen to you. Examine yourself. What patterns or choices are you trying to hide from someone? What safeguards do you need to put in place? In discussing this at an elder meeting\, the elders of Grace Church all chose to put monitoring software on their devices. They did this not because of a current problem\, but because of how easy it is to become a problem. The leaders of this church chose accountability and vulnerability over denial and\, quite frankly\, arrogance. \nHere’s my question to you: will you choose vulnerability over pride? 1 John 1:8 says we all continue to have a sin problem\, even after salvation. Satan’s version of herbicide drift is out there. Will you let it affect your life? \nBe sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion\, seeking someone to devour.     1 Peter 5:8 \nI love you all\, \nPastor Daniel \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:5 Day Clubs
DESCRIPTION:5 Day Clubs return to Grace Church the week of July 27-31.  Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) from Omaha has specially-trained youth from St. Paul (Asher & Andrew Bear & Carly Mills)\, as well as two additional youth from Omaha\, to lead three Bible clubs at three different locations.  What a great mission outreach opportunity for our community!  We challenge YOU to find a way to be involved.  We will have a “Donation Tree” in the north lobby with leaves that have names of food items printed on them.  If you could donate any of these items\, please take a leaf.  There are two leaves attached to one another—the first leaf is for you to take to remind you what you volunteered to purchase\, the second leaf is for you to write your name on and drop in the basket by the tree (pens are in the basket) so we know what will be provided and what we need to purchase.  There is also a donation jar by the basket if you would prefer to donate money rather than purchase the food.  There are also other ways to be involved:  attending a club\, serving a meal to our teen teachers\, praying!!!  Oh\, what an important aspect of being involved that one is!  Pray for the kids attending.  Pray for the parents who may stick around and hear the gospel.  Pray for the teens who are teaching.  PRAY!! \nContact Rachel Bear (308.383.0210) if you have any questions or would like more information about helping with any aspect of this outreach ministry to the children of our community. \nClub Locations: \n10:00 am: Elba City Park \n1:00 pm:  723 Sheridan St. (Mel & Linda Fuller’s yard)       \n4:00 pm:  Palmer City Park \n

SUMMARY:Back-to-School Open House
DESCRIPTION:Grace Church is participating once again in the Back-to-School Open House sponsored by St. Paul Elementary School.  The Open House is Tuesday\, August 11\, from 5-7 pm. Approximately 400 Elementary-aged students will visit stations that are set up by various organizations in St. Paul.  Each station has information for their organization as well as handouts and/or treats.  We will be handing out information on Sunday School and an invitation to attend AWANA\, along with candy and a small toy.  This activity has been very successful in the past\, as we have been able to trace new attendees to both AWANA and Sunday services directly to the Open House.  Please pray that God will bless our efforts this year as well.  We need one volunteer who would be willing to sit at our table (with Janet Edwards) and hand out these invitations and trinkets.  If you could help in this way\, please contact one of the Mission Committee members (Angela Dibbert\, Delaney Lucht\, or Lura Townsend). \n

SUMMARY:AWANA Registration
DESCRIPTION:AWANA is starting soon!!  We are always looking for volunteers\, so if you feel God leading you to help impact children for Him\, please talk to Pastor Daniel.  He can direct you to the age group you feel most led to help.  We need Bible verse listeners\, game helpers\, and leaders to help with crowd control during Bible lessons.  We need YOU!!  If you choose to help\, we will have a leaders meeting on Wednesday\, August 19\, after Registration Night (approximately 7:30 pm) to go over expectations for the year.  We will go over in detail how to fill out the clubbers books\, sheets\, and what the clubbers need to do in order to finish their sections\, as well as how many shares they can earn.  Plan to come.  We all need to be on the same page!! \nRegistration is August 19 at 6:30 pm.  The clubbers can meet their leaders\, get their starter book\, see what their shirts will look like\, as well as see the awards they can earn if they finish their book this year. \nAWANA will then begin weekly on August 26 at 6:30 pm and end at 8:15 pm\, with the exception of Cubbies which ends at 8:00 pm.  If you have a Cubbie (2 years before Kindergarten)\, please be certain to pick them up at 8:00 pm. \n
