On Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm during AWANA, all teens, whether they participate in AWANA or not, are invited to attend youth group in the lower-level of Grace Church.  This year, Brian Smith and Barrett Huneke are the youth sponsors, in charge of each evening’s activities, and Pastor Daniel will be the Bible teacher.  This year’s lessons will focus on the humanity we see in the lives of people in the Bible.  The theme of our lessons this year is CHOSEN: Ordinary People. Extraordinary Faith.  It is a teaching series designed to help teenagers discover what it means to follow God through the real stories of people in Scripture.  From Abraham and Moses to David, Esther, Daniel, Peter, Paul, and others, students will see people who demonstrated incredible faith but also experienced fear, failure, temptation, doubt, insecurity, and disappointment.  Each lesson connects the biblical story to the real pressures teenagers face today—peer pressure, identity, approval, temptation, relationships, failure, uncertainty, and finding the courage to stand for what they believe.

Ultimately, the series isn’t about turning teenagers into biblical heroes.  It’s about helping them see that God works through ordinary, imperfect people and every story ultimately points to Jesus.  Students will be challenged to ask throughout the series, “What kind of person am I becoming?” and to understand that following Jesus means trusting Him, choosing faithfulness, learning from failure, serving others, and becoming a maturing follower of Jesus Christ.  The series ends by moving the focus from the biblical heroes to Jesus—the One who perfectly lived, served, died, and rose again—and the invitation to simply believe and follow Him.
