“Mom, I don’t know what to do here.  It seems as though I can never get ahead.  Please pray I manage my time well.”  “Mom, I am at the end of my rope with teaching the kids, please pray I stay patient with them and we get through the material.”  “Mom, the doctors can’t seem to figure out what is wrong with Eden, please pray for wisdom.”  “Mom, I want to be the woman God wants me to be, but I keep getting in the way.  Please pray I step back and let God be God and mold me as He sees fit.”  Do any of these conversations sound even remotely familiar?  My mom was a prayer warrior of Corydon Bible Church (the church I grew up in).  Now, I would not say she was the only one, but she was definitely a major one.  Every church has at least one prayer warrior….and you know who it is!!  You ask them to pray for things that are going on in your life that you just don’t understand.  You ask them to pray for health for your family.  You ask them to pray for traveling mercies when you go on a trip.  You ask them to pray for…..well, you name it, you ask them to pray for it.  If I were to ask you who our prayer warrior here at Grace Church is, who would you say?  I think many of you would come up with the same name.  Or maybe you wouldn’t come up with the same name…..maybe YOUR prayer warrior is someone most people don’t think about.  But you know he/she is praying for you.  And yet, how many of us feel that we could be a prayer warrior???  That is what we want to encourage this year in Secret Sister.  We want YOU to become a prayer warrior for your secret sister.  Yes, I know that insinuates that you have to know what is going on in her life…but do you??  You already know who she is, whether she’s a mom, a grandma, a widow, a newly married, a single lady, a mom, a “I wish I could be a mom,” etc.  You know the hassles of life that are constantly thrown at all of us.  You know Satan wants to defeat her.  You know how to pray.  There may be times she asks for specific prayers, but regardless, you know she needs prayer.  If this seems daunting to you, please ask for help.  We have several people here at Grace who would be more than willing to talk to you about the importance of prayer, how to pray, and how God will always hear you, regardless of “how” you pray!

If you do not want to participate in the full Secret Sister program, but would like to take on praying for Sisters in Christ here at Grace, please let Rachel know.  She has several who have chosen to take on a specific “sister” here at church and has agreed to pray for her and give her two gifts throughout the year.  If you would like to join these ladies, please see Rachel and she will get you a name (or names).

We also recognize that many feel as though they “have” to give gifts throughout the year.  This is not our focus this year—we want you to PRAY for your secret sister.  We do encourage you to give two gifts throughout the year (one at her birthday, one at her anniversary [if applicable], or at Christmas).  If you want to give more than that, feel free.  We have included some ideas this year, as we know some just can’t think of what to give.  Contact Rachel Bear for a list of ideas.

If you would like to participate, but cannot make it to the Secret Sister Reveal on February 21 (at 10 am; please bring a brunch item to share), please see Rachel for a survey to fill out.

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.
